![]() ![]() I definitely know its something incompatible between ADE and Windows 10 because I can download the run the exact same version of ADE on my trusty old Lenovo Win 7 SP2 laptop and download ePUB books with NO problems. Has anyone here got some hints, cause I tried all the tricks posted on the forums and none work for me including finding and installing ADE 3.0 as well as trying all the Windows retro compatibility switches (Win XP, Vista, 7, 8 etc.), creating a new Win 10 account to run in, different HD install location etc. ascm files (which look a whole like XML) to complete the ‘Fulfillment’ process in getting an ePUB book either throws several different errors, freezes ADE or causes other abends in the app. on my desktop machine currently running Windows Build 18362.720.Īs has been widely noted on Adobe and Windows forums, ADE does not play nice with Windows 10, or is it the other way around? Adobe refuses to comment or get involved in this major break as to why attempting to download and activate those little. However, the Adobe ID account page I listed above may not bother you, it seems very simple compared to their main site. This may be old hat by now but after a long absence from downloading ePUB books from my local public library I downloaded and fired up the latest ver of Adobe Digital Editions which right now is 4.5.11. Depending on how bad of the reaction, if it is too much then I would say having a trusted friend create the Adobe ID for you is the best method. It is possible that you might avoid what is bothering you that way. You also could try using say Firefox with NoScript addon to disable the scripts and enable only the ones you need (enable the adobe site first, then each one in turn until you can create an ID account). In that case I don’t know other than having someone else do it for you. Unless you mean creating a adobe ID account () which ADE uses to authorize you. Click on the help menu in the program and it will tell you if you are, or aren’t registered. As for checking registration, that is done in the ADE program itself. ![]() The direct download to the 2.0.1 version for windows is here You shouldn’t need to browse their site using that link. Would have been nice if Overdrive made some sort of announcement. I spent several days getting everything working again. Leading me to reverting, deleting the authorization and upgrade again. I tried upgrading ADE which didn’t work as it said I wasn’t authorized, yet wouldn’t let me do so (gave an error when I tried). At the time it drove me crazy trying to figure out the problem, and no one had any idea. The ACSM file is not the actual ebook instead, its a file that Adobe Digital Editions uses to download and open the ebook. I would have mentioned the situation with ADE to Nate back in November, but I thought it was old news. EPUB and PDF ebooks After you download an EPUB or PDF ebook to your computer, you can find its ACSM file in your computers 'Downloads' folder. I ran into this issue, but thankfully I still had the install file. Which, if you don’t still have your older install file, could be a problem. The reason this is better is *if* the upgrade doesn’t import your authorization properly, you have to uninstall 2.01, install the older version, and deauthorize with that version. While you can upgrade, it is best to deregesiter it first by pressing ctrl-shift-d while ADE is open to bring up the erase authorization popup and click the erase button (there isn’t a option to erase it directly from the help menu). Nope you can’t have more than one copy of ADE on your system. If you ask me for help, that is where I will go looking for a solution. ![]() This fixed the problem for most people, including my source, but if you are still having issues then the best place to find a solution is either the Adobe support forums or on MobileRead.
